This cute little book is a bit of a disappointment to me. Despite the title Tatting Accessories and what appears to be tatting on the cover, there is no tatting in this book. All the articles in the book were constructed of micro macrame. Clever but no tatting.
Drats tricked again.
That's dreadful. Thanks for letting us all know, though. The things on the cover look very, very simple or what I'd call 'generic' - the sort of 'pattern' that even the newest tatter can 'design' but which has been 'designed' on numerous occasions and given new names!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree Jane, a baby could come up with the designs in this book, what made me order it was the beads added to the designs in between tatted elements seemed impossible. I was so curious about how they added the beads I had to order the book.
DeleteSo all is not lost, it gave me some ideas to try out for adding beads. Of course the uses are limited to short lengths of tatting not large beaded projects.
Micro macrame... hmmm... interesting. I did tons of macrame in the early 70s, but never thought of doing anything tiny. I'd be interested in seeing the book, even if I never made anything from it. It's a shame the Japanese books are so expensive. It makes the disappointment even greater.
ReplyDeleteDiane,
DeleteIf you leave me an email with your address, once I cull any information I can use in tatting I'd be happy to send the book out on tour. No use wasting limited library space on a book I won't really use.
P.S.
ReplyDeleteIf you go to this ebay site you can see the projects in the book. This seller is very nice and has a few Japanese tatting books and if you don't mind waiting a few weeks the shipping is free.
